Script Breakdowns

Breaking the script into components

Do it by department

A step towards scheduling

The script breakdown can be done on the schedule or you you can do a paper version where you just break a script down by department separately

Scheduling

Directly generated from the script

Everything is generated by the schedule from now on

This is the most direct translation of the script, practically speaking

Includes information about the length of a scene, cast involved, the time it will take to shoot, the location, ext vs int, day vs night, scene numbers and more

separated into 8ths of a page

Cast members are given numbers

Budgeting

Based on the schedule

don't do a budget without doing a schedule first

Broken down into sections by department

cast,  crew, Camera, Sound, locations, accommodation, catering, art dept, equipment etc

the budget will be created by the producer or line producer

this document will govern all monies spent and help shape the film in terms of what is possible and what is not

the best budgets and budget makers are those who can see the cost of the videos in their mind

Call Sheets

These are documents that govern a shooting day

the line producer or producer will create them

the first or second AD will perfect them

the production coordinator will distribute them

they include

call times for crew and actors

set information

location information

Recce's
